Homogeneous mix of aggregate, cement, water and additives of a particular nature that, in specific proportions, confers the properties of the concrete keeping them unalterable. With the added value of a great resistance capacity to extreme frost-thaw cycles.

Cryogenic concrete has been chosen to solve the problem caused by extreme temperature changes. Thermal fluctuations reduce significantly the resistance of conventional concrete. However, with cryogenic concrete this reduction is very limited and it allows to keep the resistance wanted.

Field of Application

Deposits and conductions aimed at containing products at a very low temperature, such as liquefied natural gas.

Benefits

  • Resistance to extreme frost-thaw cycles(-200 °C).
  • Capacity to construct elements with large volumes and singular shapes.
  • Low maintenance cost compared to steel containers which, due to corrosion, need a regular paint job.

Application System

  • Similar to the one required for conventional concrete.
  • Before the manufacturing process, raw materials are selected and strictly analysed.
  • During manufacturing, the control over raw materials and the process to guarantee the homogeneity of the product and later characteristics remains.
